This event was the first time that an APPT event was held in Queenstown. The created field the biggest prize pool ever recorded in the city. While taking in every part of the prize pool of $ 342,900 NZD would be an impressive achievement, it was the NZD $ 94,300 first-place price were all returning players are fighting for.

After nearly 12 hours of hard to play the final table, including nearly four of grueling heads-up play Marcel Schreiner and was Germany's Matt Yates New Zealand local teen who went-to-toe for the title.

Schreiner managed to maintain a lead at the end of day 1, day 2 and day 3 and at the final table, he produced a dominant display to the eventual champion.

The final table started with some of the best players from the region take to the felt. This Karamalikis Jonathan, included the likes of Hugh Cohen and Tom Grigg. By the time all those players in ninth place, respectively the rail and had hit eighth place sixth place, we were already a few hours in the final table.

When heads-up play began, the two players had similar stacks, but after a few hours, Schreiner showed his dominance in the game, and managed to take down a large majority of the pots with a nice lead.

The two players went on to fight it out for more than 180 hands, and for the majority of them, Mr Schreiner held the chip lead. The exception to this was when the biggest hand of the night occurred. Schreiner and Yates got all their chips in the middle {9-Spades} on a plate {5-Spades} {10-Diamonds} displayed: {6-Hearts} . Yates {k-Clubs} {10-Spades} held {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} against the Schreiner. The higher kicker for Yates made all the difference, because the River bricked off and a big lead was finally in the hands of Yates.

However, because the lead last long and slowly chip away at Yates managed Schreiner worked his way back to manage a lead before {a-Hearts} that Yates all {9-Spades} -operating not {a-Hearts} {q-Spades} against his own. When {a-Diamonds} {q-Hearts} {a-Clubs} the flop hit the felt, Schreiner of full house had Yates drawing dead and sent him home in second place.

Final results of the table

Crowned the first ever APPT champion with Schreiner Queenstown, the sentiment surrounding the event is that it can be set to one of the most popular on the tour, with not only a major poker event on offer, but with the beautiful city of Queenstown while away from the felt something to marvel at.
